A wellbeing studio that treats support as steady, ordinary work
We started Fieldnote Practice in 2017 on a plain belief: help with mental health and disability access should be clear, usable, and finish what it starts.
Grounded, credible, and quietly motivating
We are a small team in Asheville, North Carolina who got tired of watching people bounce between glossy wellness brands and impenetrable government forms.
So we built something in between. A practice that sits with you for the slow paperwork, runs honest emotional growth sessions, and writes everything in language you can actually use. No spa fluff, no clinical distance, no surprises buried in the fine print.
The disability-access side of our work means accessibility is the core of how we operate. If a person cannot read it, reach it, or use it, we are not done.
What we hold to
Four values that decide what we publish and how we show up.
Accuracy
We get the facts right and cite where it matters, especially on rules that decide a benefit.
Clarity
Plain language, answer first, no padding and no jargon you have to decode.
Access
If a person cannot use it, it is not finished. Access is the work, not a feature.
Steadiness
We stay through the slow parts. Support that disappears halfway is not support.
A small team you can actually reach
Three people, no call-centre maze. You will likely speak to all of us.
Priya Vanterpool
Practice lead
Spends her days untangling benefits paperwork and making sure every plan we write can be read, signed and used without a translator.
Tomas Eklund
Wellbeing practitioner
Runs the emotional growth sessions. Believes mental health is built from small, boring, repeatable habits, and treats it that way.
Naima Okonjo
Access and intake
The first voice you hear. Reads every message, books the right room, and checks that nothing about getting to us is harder than it should be.
Steady support is one short note away
Tell us a little about your situation and we will reply within a working day with a clear, plain first step. No forms to decode, no pressure.
